July 9th Texas Youth Race Week Update posted to Facebook 07/09 at 1230:

Due to the damages sustained as a result of Hurricane Beryl, Houston Yacht Club will not be able to host this year's TYRW July 11-14th.  The club is currently without power which impacts all utilities at the facility.  We are also concerned with the safety of all participants with debris on the grounds, harbor and bay.

It is the club's desire to reschedule the regatta for a later date.  We are closely working with TSA, USODA and our amazing volunteers to make this happen.  Please be patient with us as we navigate the possibility of rescheduling this event.

Texas Youth Race Week History

Texas Youth Race Week began in 1991 as the Galveston Bay Tri-Club Regatta, but it traces its origins back to the first invitational Ragnot Regatta of 1961. TYRW was designated a US SAILING Junior Olympic event in 1997. The 2017 Texas Youth Race Week marked 20 years as a US SAILING Junior Olympic event.

Listen to an oral history interview with John and Catherine Focke, hosted online by Rice University’s Woodson Research Center, for more about the long tradition of Texas Youth Race Week.

In 2021, Texas Youth Race Week celebrated the 30th anniversary of the regatta.
