Regatta of the Year

The TSA Regatta of the Year award is presented annually at the final Youth Circuit event.

The perpetual award was crafted by John Focke in 2003.

The Outstanding Regatta of the Year was not awarded in 2020 due to Covid-19 scheduling.


2019

Fort Worth Boat Club for the TSA Jr. Ol’ Man of the Sea Regatta

Lake Canyon Yacht Club for TSA Spring Fling Regatta

From the 2018 TSA Minutes: "Regatta of the Year: Lake Canyon Yacht Club". Lake Canyon Yacht Club spearheaded TSA's 2018 partnership with Sailors for the Sea to host a Green Regatta.


2017

Corpus Christi Yacht Club for TSA Changes in L'Attitude

Rockport Yacht Club for the TSA Rockin' Rockport Regatta

Austin Yacht Club for the USODA Mid-American Championship and Road Runner Regatta

TSA minutes are missing for 2007 and 2008. There is no mention of the awards in the 2009 - 2014 minutes.

2006

Corpus Christi Yacht Club for the J/80 World Championships

From the 2006 TSA Minutes: "The 2006 Art Nazro Trophy for host club hospitality and efficient regatta organization was presented to Corpus Christi Yacht Club for the J/80 World Championship and the David Greene Award for the PRO Excellence went to Mark Foster for the same event."

University of Texas Sailing Team / Austin Yacht Club for the 2005 College Nationals

From the 2005 TSA Minutes: "The Art Nazro Award for Race Management Excellence was awarded to the University of Texas Sailing Team / Austin Yacht Club for the 2005 College Nationals held in June. The David B. Greene Award for the year's outstanding PRO was awarded to John Nicholson for long time service to Texas Youth Race Week."

Texas Corinthian Yacht Club for the Optimist Team Trials

From the 2004 TSA Minutes: "Commodore Kolius announced that the 2004 recipient of the Arthur P. Nazro Award (Host Club) is Texas Corinthian Yacht Club for the Opti Team Trials. The David B. Green Race Management Trophy (PRO) was awarded to Brad Davis of Rush Creek Yacht Club for the Black Tie Regatta."


2003

Houston Yacht Club for the Laser/4270 Olympic Trials

Robert W. Gough for the J/80 World Championship

From the 2003 TSA Minutes: "Commodore Kolius presented the Arthur P. Nazro Trophy for Race Management Excellence to Houston Yacht Club for the Laser/4270 Olympic Trials. The David B. Greene PRO of the Year award was presented to Robert W. Gough for the J/80 World Championship. A new trophy for this award was designed by John Focke with assistance from Jim Tichenor, both previous winners. The trophy was built using teak wood, familiar to all sailors with an aroma associated with yachts, articulated waves where it all happens and stone which is a strong image anchored to Texas. Nameplates are visible from both sided and Mr. Focke also provided a traveling case for the exquisite piece of art."

Houston Yacht Club for the Pan American Trials

From the 2002 TSA Minutes: "The A.P. Nazro trophy for race management excellence was awarded to Houston Yacht Club for the Pan American Trials. The David Greene Trophy for individual excellence in race management was awarded to Jim Tichenor for his dedication not only in TSA, but nationwide service in 2002."

Nazro trophy for race management excellence by a member club was presented jointly to Chandlers Landing and Rush Creek Yacht Clubs for the 2001 Adams/Mallory Finals (Patriot Cup). The newly established Dr. David Greene PRO of the Year award for race management excellence by an individual was given to John Focke of Houston Yacht Club for his work on a multitude of regattas during the 2001 season."
